Do you need help to tame the beast? Computer Masters can be your part-time Systems Administrator in Central Ohio. We streamline computer operations by fine-tuning clients' software. Computer Masters also uses Visual Basic and other resources to create personalized routines when canned or specialized software just won't work. Programming since 1983 and incorporated in 1991, Computer Masters has set an enviable pace to be an industry leader when serving the needs of their clients. Our finished product is "user-friendly."
Specializing in small, professional businesses, Computer Masters is capable of supplying 100% of your network support. Having worked in DOS, Windows 3.x, Win 95/98, Novell Netware, and Banyan, we learned early that support is the key. For small businesses, a full-time administrator is too expensive. For professional businesses, an accurate product is mandatory. Computer Masters can supply all of your in-house support without always being there. Try Computer Masters as your source for effective system adminsitration and software support. We can also assist your project managers to ensure a perfect integration between computer software and your business operations.
| Basic: | In 1983, used Basic (the version that came with DOS 2.1) to create our first program. It ran on an 8086 personal computer with dual floppy drives. We named the program "The Birthday Music" because it played Happy Birthday! The power! The speed! It was awesome! |
| dBase: | In 1985, and within 90 days of learning dBase III, over 120,000 bytes of source code was written to maintain an association's membership records. This program was eventually sold to a second association. Computer Masters can support and debug most versions of dBase as well as the languages that evolved from it. |
| Clipper: | In the later 1980s, programmers at Computer Masters evolved to a more efficient and stable program environment. They have programmed in all versions of Clipper through version 5.3. They created an application which monitored thousands of parts used by a manufacturing firm. This firm sells large amounts of their product to businesses such as Honda. Maintaining an accurate inventory database meant lower production costs. |
| Clarion: | Computer Masters personnel learned Clarion to support the needs of one very specific client. They supported and debugged extensive amounts of Clarion programs written by others. |
| Visual dBase: | Computer Masters wrote only a few Visual dBase programs to gain a working knowledge of the software. |
| Visual Basic: | Conceptually, Computer Masters understood and appreciated the niche held by Basic and Visual Basic programming. In the past, the client base of Computer Masters demanded databasing speeds comparable to products delivered by the DOS operating system environment without the expense of writing in languages commanding astronomical hourly rates. Computer Masters can now fully endorse Visual Basic and its entire product line now that Visual Basic 5.0 offers speed comparable to Visual C++ and Power Builder but at a fraction of the production cost! One current project deals with creating a single database holding over two hundred tables and is to include capabilities in faxing directly from the program with minimal user-entered keystrokes. |
| WWW: | We do Web pages, too! |
Evolving from dBase to Visual Basic strengthens the base upon which to support clients' needs for today and the future.
Creating software programs continues to be the main thrust of Computer Masters. Every program is especially written toward each client's needs in a manner consistent with minimizing keystrokes and help screens. Users find these programs to be extremely efficient and easy to use. How do you know you need Computer Masters? Take a look around. Are keystrokes being wasted on repetitive tasks? Are personnel constantly waiting for print jobs and then waiting to fax them? Does your current software program provide everything you require but you feel is cumbersome? If you answered yes to any of these questions, maybe you need Computer Masters. Remember, Computer Masters specializes in streamlining businesses!
Computer Masters evolved from DOS 2.1 through Win 95 (and Win 98) and continues to accept the challenge to learn newer operating systems as they appear on the market. They have administered Novell and Banyan networks. Computer Masters writes their programs to work on networks with a complete understanding of several networks and limitations involved. Through the services of other consulting agencies, Computer Masters can supply just about everything. Computer Masters is your one-stop shopping resource for effective business management and production on your PCs and networks.
Computer Masters has written and manipulated software to support many hardware devices. These devices include sending ASCII streams to special printers to create commercial quality labels complete with text, graphics, and barcodes. Software programs were designed to expedite annual inventories by reading barcode. Hardware interfaces were crafted to give companies, who used specialized security cards, the capability of using those same cards on other computer systems. The control of external lights and switches was achieved by reading and writing I/O addresses. Manipulating AT commands streamlined fax/modem communications. Programming Radio Frequency hand held radio devices for efficient communications with PCs using order entry software.
Computer Masters has the intuitive knack in assisting clients with new software... even unfamiliar software. These programs include production, inventory, accounting, and word processing. More importantly is the capability of supporting software that is specific to certain types of industries. For example, realtors use software permitting them access to property listings. Insurance agents use software to monitor claims and print certificates. Many industries use the services of special file forwarding companies to transmit purchase orders, work orders, invoices, etc. The list of specialized software is endless.Computer Masters may depend on you to tell us what it is supposed to do, but we can show you how to do it!
Computer Masters has supported the needs of numerous professional clients in the central Ohio area for years. When it is decision making time, do you buy inexpensive software off the shelf, expensive software from specialized industry suppliers, or write your own? These are not easy questions since hardware and software appear to become outdated the day following date of purchase.
Clients have many options when deciding what is best for them. Computer Masters can help that decision making process by supplying clients with current facts. A paradigm is defined as thinking outside the "box." Another way of assisting clients is to help them think outside of their paradigm whether that paradigm is self-imposed or industry-imposed.
Software programming: Computer Masters can support most client needs by exchanging files over the internet keeping visits to client locations minimal. Send us an e-mail describing your needs and what type of help you desire.
In-house systems and software support: Computer Masters would need to visit your place of business to support your needs. Obviously, you would need to be located reasonably close for this to be economically feasible. Right now, Computer Masters supports central Ohio locations without much expense to the clients. As other consultant sites come on-line, we'll be able to recommend them to you. Keep an eye on this web page for expanded geographically coveraged areas of the U.S. (World?) Send us an e-mail for a return call and/or visit!
Other consultants/programmers are needed. To expand our base beyond central Ohio, Computer Masters is looking for other geographically located professional consultant sites who can assist in visiting and supporting increased Web-based clientele. If interested, e-mail or write a brief resume about who you are and what you have done. Computer Masters is not in the business of selling any one software program. We support what our clients need.
